Missouri Storms
May 3, 2011 No CommentsAs you probably know, we have had some devastating storms in the last few weeks here in Missouri. The bad news is obvious; many people have lost homes and important possessions and some have suffered injuries. The good news is, there are people with big hearts that are willing to volunteer their help for these people in need. If you are interested in helping, perhaps you will find some use in the following information which is provided by the Maryland Heights Chamber of Commerce: Service International has established a base at Grace Church. They have organized teams of volunteers to help with the clean up efforts. Numerous volunteers have been coming out to help total strangers try to get their lives back in order. This effort will take weeks. If you are interested in volunteering, please comment on our blog and we will be more than happy to send you information on how you can join the volunteer efforts. You can also help by providing SI with work gloves, as they have run out. They are also looking for packaged lunches for their volunteers who work from 10am-5pm on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Nothing that needs to be assembled or heated. Any sheets (all sizes), cleaning supplies, diapers, underwear and socks you can provide for the Maryland Heights Center is also very helpful. Monetary donations are also requested. Patt Care, Service International, United Way, American Red Cross are all collecting. If you’d like more detailed information, please visit www.mhcc.com.
