Is the Resume becoming obsolete?
July 22, 2012 No Comments
So experts believe that the written, old fashion resume is becoming obsolete compared to new ways employers are choosing potential employees. It is being reported that Facebook may be launching its own job board, which means candidates can look for jobs on Facebook and employers will look for potential hires on Facebook as well. Some tech experts are doing what is called a living resume on Pintrest and pinning things they have done to their living resume boards. Some companies are going to a “web presence” where they don’t want a old resume with a list of jobs and accomplishments. They want to see your “web presence” like your Twitter page, Facebook page, or blog. Companies that are doing this say this shows your true self and the way you act online.
I think this new trend will keep going and growing. You will still need to prove yourself with a resume but the old paper resumes won’t do the trick anymore. You need to prove you know how to use today’s technology whether that be blogs, twitter, or youtube videos describing yourself and why you would be great at the job you are applying for.
Have you or do you know anyone who hasn’t had to turn in a paper resume but had to do something different? Let us know in the comments below.
