June 20, 2012 No Comments
Do you love butterflies? Do you like teaching? Do you love to volunteer? The Butterfly House in Faust Park in Chesterfield needs you! There are many types of volunteer positions available from being a docent to helping with special events. Chances are they have something that interests you. You can volunteer once, or you can volunteer for many days; it doesn’t matter, they want your help!
The Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House is a non-profit organization established in 1995 to increase the awareness of the natural habitat in which butterflies thrive. The Butterfly House was built in 1998 and is a conservancy garden surrounded by glass. The Butterfly house offers visitors a chance to see the butterflies in their natural habitat as well as a tropical habitat. Visitors can also attend lectures, special events, and educational programs while at the facility. The Butterfly House became part of the Missouri Botanical Gardens in 2002 and a member of the Associations of Zoos & Aquariums and recognized as the only insect facility in the organization.
