Get Involved: Summer Service Slam
August 1, 2012 No Comments
Community service is one way that soldiers are integrated back into society after spending time abroad in a war torn area. The community services initiative by Fox Sports Midwest and The Mission Continues is a great way to rub elbows with current or former service members as well as members of the community.
Volunteers are needed for the final Summer Service Slam of 2012. The project in Belleville, Illinois will be refurbishing the softball field at South Side Park. On August 18th from 8:30am to 12:30pm, you have many areas in which you can volunteer. Activities range from painting to laying gravel to removing fencing.
This is a great way to teach kids about the importance of community service and introducing them to different ways they can get involved in the community.
