Get Involved: St. Louis Crisis Nursery
July 4, 2012 No CommentsThe St. Louis Crisis Nursery is a nonprofit organization that helps prevent child abuse and neglect by providing a short term emergency shelter for children 1 to 12 years old. The average stay for these children is 2 to 3 days and each child is given 24 hour care, a medical exam, a developmental assessment, art activates, and 3 meals and 3 snacks a day. There are 5 Crisis Nursery locations: North, West, St. Charles, and Wentzville with each one providing the same services. They also have 2 outreach centers in St. Louis City and County.
Volunteers at the Crisis Nursery’s will be assisting the professionals on numerous tasks like Provide emotional support for children by rocking, holding, talking, etc and care for the physical needs of the children by feeding, bathing, dressing, etc. Volunteers must be at least 14 years old and understanding and respect of children, and have a non-judgmental attitude towards the children and their parents.
