May 9, 2012 No Comments
Love basketball? Do you know how to referee? Want to help others? The 4th annual Anthony Smith 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament on May 19, is the place for you! Anthony Smith was a lover of basketball. He played basketball for Kirkwood High School for 4 years. He played Division I basketball at Loyola University in Chicago. Anthony bravely battled Leukemia for 3 years before passing away in 2008. The tournament is one of remembrance, love, and respects to help others who fought or are fighting with the courage that Anthony did.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) raises awareness, funds, and educates about the blood cancers Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and many others. They are doing everything they can to find a cure for these diseases. The foundation funds lifesaving research around the world and provides free information and support services.
Volunteers are need throughout the tournament from referees to scorekeepers. You can also sign up to participate in the event. There are several divisions so that whole family can participate!
