Food Blogging

The restaurant critic used to was one of the most sought after jobs in the journalism field. Who would not love to get paid to eat for free at incredible restaurants and write about the experience afterwards? Now, the job of the restaurant critic is being filled by the free lance food blogger. While their passion and ability to anonymously critic a dining establishment is superb, the lack of accountability in the profession is astounding. In what other industry does hearsay and rumor control the fate of so many jobs? I feel that there should be an industry wide rating system to determine who has the credentials, and who just wants to talk about their hate for a particular spot. What do you think?
