Airline Fees… are they Fair?
July 5, 2011 No CommentsAccording to an NPR article “U.S. airlines collected $3.4 billion in bag fees last year”. The fees were initially introduced because airlines could not keep up with the rising fuel costs, so services that were once free are now just an added expense. Apparently the airlines attempted to increase the cost of tickets, but the public did not take to that very well, which is why they decided to make up for their extra expenses by charging passengers fees. Now I have never been on an airplane, so I have not experienced this first hand, but I can imagine it would be frustrating to have to be spending the money you saved for vacation before you even reach your destination. However, what other choices do the airlines have?
