Well here is a creative idea to try out on your next project. Instead of printing on a t-shirt or on a canvas we are going to use recycled newspapers. This is a great idea if your making a line of prints that is news related or political, and an even better idea if you can get your hands on some classic headlines or propaganda ads. This also gives your print jobs a more rustic and industrial look, which is a really popular look nowadays. Also since you are using these newspapers, you are recycling paper which would have other wise ended up in the trash! Taking out two birds with one stone. SO I mentioned news and political art that could go with these projects, but what are some other topics that can fit into this project? Throw some ideas out there, and get out there and try them out!

Everyone goes out and spends a certain amount of money on their friends and family for their special day. After that, they take it home and wrap it up beautifully until it is ready to be opened. Here is where the think-outside-the-box part comes into play. When wrapping up those gifts for that birthday boy or girl, try and get creative. Use newspaper for packing material if you have to send gifts to another state or country. Reuse gift bags you received from previous celebrations. Be sure to keep this in mind when you are opening gifts too, so that you can prepare for birthdays to come! If you have any other ideas for how you can be green about your gift wrapping, do share!

They offer a kind of middle ground for young and old readers and some of them actually have pretty good writing behind them. Some of our country’s most beloved icons come from the comic section, and it’s with good reason; they’re point of origin is so entertaining. Garfield is so well known and his fame started from newspaper comics. I know that everyone is trying so hard to reach a “paperless” society, but I’m at least glad that I can still read the funny papers. So is there a newspaper comic you enjoy reading?

One thing to experiment with is to use old newspapers as the paper you screen print on. It not only prevents wastefulness, but also can give your project a twist if you pick pages with interesting stories. Plus, each piece can be unique if you decide to use different pages for each print. We can thank our friends from Dress Code for introducing this tip which I find to be great and useful. Make sure to show us your results after trying this useful technique.
