Preparing for Your Career
July 17, 2011 No CommentsWhat Career Services Can Do For Your Career
With the way the job market is today, it’s tough for graduates to quickly find a job. I recommend taking advantage of career services, particularly your college career services if applicable. Many career centers empower individuals to become independent job seekers and career managers by focusing on comprehensive career education. Career Services assists students in all stages of career development including providing information for opportunities such as internships, co-ops, and/or volunteering in the community, obtaining accurate resource, and labor market information, promoting skill building and experience, and adjusting to the world of work. For others, basic information such as interviewing skills, resume building and networking tips are sufficient. As a recent graduate, I can say I really appreciate the knowledge I gained from my universities careers services. It was helpful and definitely helped me steer my career in the right direction. Regardless of where you are in your career any information, you receive from a career center can beneficial in you networking or career planning.
