Nielsen Goes Online
August 27, 2011 No CommentsNielsen Co the major TV ratings company will soon take their work online. Their first online client will be Facebook. Instead of rating click throughs and impressions the Nielsen Online Ratings will emphasize “gross ratings points” that multiplies the reach of an ad by the frequency that the audience sees it. Nielsen stated that the Online Campaign Ratings is open to other customers and not just Facebook.
It only makes sense for Nielsen Company to move its rating system online; my only thing is what took them so long? The Internet has been a real outlet for businesses to reach customers and they are always looking for new ways to measure their effectiveness. I am wondering about the effectiveness of their “gross ratings points system”, only time will tell.
Do you think that Nielsen Company should have started an online rating system earlier? Do you think it is to little to late for them to gain a large portion of their market?
