Keep it Green on Wednesdays at MOBOT
July 20, 2011 No CommentsOne of my favorite parts about summer are the weekly concerts at the Missouri Botanical Garden. As a recent college grad, what appeals to me most about these concerts is one word: FREE (that, and food and drinks are allowed). Now in its 18th year, the Whitaker Music Festival (it’s formal name) offers ten weeks of free Wednesday evening concerts under the stars. A St. Louis, summer institution, these concerts draw the crowds; so arrive early and come prepared. My suggestions on what to bring are below—and bonus, the suggestions are eco-friendly!
So you arrive at the gardens early enough to claim some prime real estate—close to the stage and the bathrooms. Now how to stake your claim? I suggest a blanket (or two). The two below are both functional and eco-friendly!
So you’re enjoying the music and you reach into your Styrofoam cooler and grab a plastic bottle of water… Whoa! You’re doing what? Let’s try this again. You’re enjoying the concert and the company of your friends and you reach into your ECO-COOLER and take a swig of water from your KLEAN KANTEEN. That’s better! Now you’re equipped with the necessary (and eco-friendly) supplies to enjoy a concert at the botanical gardens! Invite friends, pack snacks and beverages galore, and come join me next Wednesday as I enjoy the sights and sounds of the beautiful botanical gardens.
Do you have any other suggestions for eco-friendly and functional supplies that could be useful at an outdoor concert?
