Our friends at EcoLifeSTL.com have written a great article about the growing variety of local restaurants that offer organic and locally-sourced food, as well as those that make it a priority to reduce waste, recycle and be more sustainable. They showcase restaurants such as the Schlafly Bottleworks and Foundation Grounds in Maplewood, Cafe Osage and Terrene in the Central West End, and quite a few others as well. This article was a particularly great find for me, because out of all the restaurants they mention, I had previously only known about one of them, Sassafras Cafe at the Missouri Botanical Gardens.
I’ve worked in restaurants for a good portion of my life and as a result I enjoy dining out and experiencing new restaurants. The next time I go out, I’ll be sure to try one those that I found in the article.
