Christmas Light Recycling
December 29, 2011 No CommentsOne great thing I’ve noticed this holiday shopping season is lots of stores are offering Christmas light recycling or trade-in. Some stores are even offering coupons for bringing in used or broken lights. I’m so happy to see this. I always end up having to buy new Christmas lights after the lights spend a year in storage. It felt like such a waste throwing them out, and I didn’t know of any places that recycled them. This year I was able to recycle my lights and save money on new ones. This is great way to reduce strain on the environment, especially considering North Americans produce 25% more waste during the holiday season.
Stores that are offering this service include: Home Depot, Walmart, Whole Foods and some smaller companies like holidayleds.com (if you send in your old lights, they send you a 25% off coupon to use toward a purchase of energy-saving LED lights). Go to earth911.com to find stores that offer Christmas light recycling near you.
