Turn Dull Into Divine
September 29, 2011 No CommentsTimes are hard for the majority of people right now, and for those of us that are lucky enough to own a home or have a place they can customize to fit their own taste, may not have tons of money to spend on costly home redecorating projects. However, after doing some online research, I was able to find some great and affordable ways to embellish your home without having to empty out your wallet, one of which is pictured below. All you need is some great looking wallpaper that either fits the color scheme you currently have in the room, or something you can design the rest of the space around. The amount of wallpaper depends on which of the following projects you are interested in pursuing.
The first project involves the walls of your room. I’m sure you have heard of accent walls in a room, but I had never seen it done with wallpaper, only one solid color of paint. By adding a beautifully patterned wallpaper to just one wall of the room, you can really bring it to life. This website has some really nice examples. Then if you are able to have small things throughout the room reflect the color pattern of the wallpaper, it will really make everything come together without having to spend a ton of money on another expensive in-home project, like getting new furniture or new carpet for example. If you are interested in how you would go about this process, this website does a pretty good job of explaining it.
Another project that takes a little less time and is less eye-catching but nonetheless a real enhancement for a dull room, is using wallpaper to line the inside of a glass cabinet or cupboard. If you see the photo below, you will notice that the paper they used is only brown and white, but really adds an elegant feel to a cabinet that at one time was nothing out of the ordinary. All you have to do is find a wallpaper that has a pattern and color scheme that you like and will go with the rest of the room, figure out the size of the area you will be covering, take some sort of adhesive and use it to stick to the inside of the cabinet. After completing those quick and easy steps, you will feel like you have added a new addition to the decor of your room. If you are interested in this project or completed a similar one, please let us know how the final result turned out!
