Marble Magnets
July 21, 2011 No CommentsIf you are like me, you have several old magazines and outdated calendars lying around your house. This is a great way to recycle them and end up with a great takeaway. Most calendars have thumbnail pictures in the back or on the back cover of the pictures displayed for each month. If you cut these pictures down into they make for great little magnets. It”s a really easy project and could be great to throw in a house-warming gift or just for fun. All you need is your old magazines or calendars, and the rest of the supplies can be purchased at almost any craft store: ¾” magnets, ¾” clear glass marbles that are flat on one side, and Crazy Glue silicon sealer. First, find the small pictures that you want to use, trace a circle about the size of your magnet on something thicker to use as a template to size the pictures and cut them out. Spread a thin layer of glue on the magnet and press the picture down on top of that. Thankfully, this glue doesn”t adhere automatically so you have a few seconds to get the picture positioned perfectly. Then put a small dab of glue on top of the picture and press the marble down on top of the picture. At first, it will look bubbly but as you press down the marble the glue will flatten out and produce a clear, seamless picture. I was extremely happy with the results. What else have you done with your old magazines and calendars?
