Business Card Holders
July 23, 2011 No CommentsEmpty mint tins can be used for several things: organizing the small nick-knacks in your craft closets, holding __ or even storing those marble magnets I wrote about in one of my earlier blogs. But recently I found a really cool idea to them and store your business cards. Because lets be honest, there’s nothing worse than digging through your purse to find a business card to hand someone. So here are the materials you will need for this project: a mint tin with a flat top, Mod podge, a paintbrush, decorative paper (scrapbook paper, magazine pages, newspaper, tissue paper—pretty much any kind of paper you would like to use), Scissors, hot glue or some sort of double-sided adhesive paper, and for an extra touch of personalization, a decorated piece of canvas or cardstock paper. To begin, make sure that the tin is clean and remove the lid. Cut the paper into small pieced and decoupage the paper around the entire lid, making sure to use thin pieces and lots of mod podge for the corners and edges. Decorate the piece of canvas or paper for the top of the lid—for this step you can use paint, stamps, embroidery, whatever you would like to personalize the paper or canvas. Once your finished decorating the center-piece and the mod podge is dry, attach the adhesive paper or hot glue the design to the top of the tin. For the last touch, cut a small piece of ribbon and secure one end inside the tin at the back with hot glue or adhesive and leave enough slack for about an inch to hang out once your cards are placed in the tin.
