A Great Craft Project for Your Little Guys & Ghouls
October 18, 2011 No CommentsHalloween is my favorite holiday, and for many reasons. I love having an excuse to dress up any way you want to for one night and celebrate by going to haunted houses, parties, bonfires, watching scary movies or taking the kids out to trick-or-treat. Overall, the best thing about it is it is a great holiday for all ages to enjoy. When you have kids that are in the family or in the neighborhood, or you have a party to plan for, it is fun to come up with little clever decor and favor ideas that will really impress your guests or little ones.
That being said, I found this really great DIY project online which can be used as a really cute treat bags to give the kids in your family or around the neighborhood, or that can be used as party favors if you plan on throwing a party this year. What they are are handmade bags full of candy and treats and done up to look just like a witches’ broom. They are very easy to make and seem to take barley any time at all the create. You will need just a few things for this proect which include: 2 brown paper lunch bags per broom treat bag, scissors, candy, a twig or branch and black twine.
After you have your supplies, you are ready to get creative! This project is another Martha Stewart project, so if you visit their site you can see the following directions and another photo that shows the process in creating these adorable bags. To start, unfold one bag, and push out its base while folding in the left and right sides. Using scissors, cut the bag into thin strips, stopping short of the base. Cut thin strips into the top inch of the second bag. Open both bags, and place the second bag inside the shredded one; fill with candy. Insert a small branch 1 inch into the bag; cinch the tops of both bags, and secure with black twine. We would love to see a photo of how yours turned out!
