Client Showcase- Canoe the Ozarks
August 6, 2012 No Comments
Our featured client of August is Bill Hughes, blogger at canoetheozarks.com. He’s also a freelance writer and especially enjoys writing about the natural world as observed from a canoe.
A long time native of Southern Illinois, Bill has also worked in the Illinois tourism industry. It was during this time that he quickly grew fond of the Southern Illinois country that displays a physiographic similar to the Missouri Ozarks. A precursor to a still higher level of enthusiasm for exploring the great outdoors.
Back in the late nineties, Bill took his first canoe trip in the Ozarks on the Big Piney River. Bill says this first trip sparked a whole new awareness for experiencing life in the natural world. Since then, he’s never been the same!
Over the past decade Bill has canoed Niangua, Beaver Creek, Big Piney, Little Piney, Eleven Point, Jacks Fork, Current and the Huzzah Rivers in Missouri. In Arkansas he has canoed the Buffalo and Kings Rivers.
Bill is also a member of the Missouri Smallmouth Alliance which is a group of passionate smallmouth anglers who work together to conserve and improve Missouri’s Ozark river. The mission of the smallmouth alliance is through volunteerism, to assist in the creation, promotion and maintenance of world class Smallmouth Bass habitat and fishing in Missouri and to educate the public as to the importance of and the significance of catch and release fishing for Smallmouth Bass everywhere. You can visit the smallmouth alliance website here.
On Bill’s blog he has many categories. His posts talk about his trips and also give camping, hiking, exploring, and fishing tips.
We thank Bill Hughes and Canoe the Ozarks for their work with us and hope to have future dealings with him. Check out Bill’s site here.
