Digital Throw down: Google Plus v.s. Facebook
August 17, 2011 No CommentsSo we have all been hearing the talk about Google’s release of Google+ and the media stir that it is creating. People immediately start talking about Facebook the communication titan of social media versus Google the grand master of the marketing platform on the Internet. Facebook timed the announcement of their partnership with Skype to enhance Facebook’s video calling features and to attempt to shift talk of Google+ back to them, but people are still talking about the impact that Google+ will have on Facebook. The main impact from Google+ will be its circle feature that allows you to put certain people in different categories that can have different privacy features. So now instead of the painful list creation that you have to do on Facebook, you can simply drag and drop into the appropriate category.
Our society has many bases and rules that help it continue existing, but my favorite is business-to-business competition that demands more quality products to stay in the battle. It is the reason our country is the way it is today and innovation is always being pushed further and further. Having not personally used Google+ yet I cannot give an accurate comparison between the two, but I do know that in this digital throw down we as the users and consumers of the technology should ultimately be the ones that benefit the most.
What do you think will happen once Google+ moves out of beta testing? What will happen to Facebook?
