Improving Your Website
July 15, 2012 No Comments
A website speaks a lot for businesses and corporations. It’s what this high-tech generation looks at to get an idea of what your company is all about. It takes just mere seconds for a viewer to decide if you website is worth viewing. Those few seconds mean the difference between gaining a new client or just a “website-viewing passerby.”
So, to get things on the right path, you have to know if your business’ website is up-to-par with the message your business is sending. Think about it. There is no one physically there to talk with this potential new client about what your business is all about so your website has to do all the talking for you. So, you have to ask yourself a couple of questions, such as: “Is your website up-to-date with your business’ information?” “Is your website’s physical appearance up-to-date with today’s technology?” “Does your website have easy to read/understand text and/or word choice?” If you had any sort of hesitation, you made need to rethink your website?
In a recent book I read called The Boss of You by Laura Bacon and Emira Mears, these two women helped create a programming business from the ground up and wanted to create a book that could help other women interested in pursuing their own business venture. A good point they brought up is thinking of your business as a person. Although we are talking about our perfecting your website, the idea is the same. You need to think of your website as a person in order to visualize your website’s personality and desired appearance. For example, if your business is all about realty then you might visualize your business to appear to have a professional and reserved personality while appearing clean and refined. This business’ website should have the same appearance and feel.
I hope this blogged help give you some ideas for your business’ website. If you have any more ideas or some example you would like to share, comment below!
