Social Technology Meltdown

Social technology is haveing a massive impact on the way we live in our daily lives. Everyday I hear about Facebook, Twitter or some other forum site. What I want to know is face to face contact so bad? On facebook for instance you can have a friend that you can know better than you best friend and never have even seen their real face. Now before you say your just whining about social media, I think that it is all useful in its own way. Just because something is their doesn’t mean that you have to use it. With Twitter for instance, I don’t think everyone needs to know that I am going to the store, or even getting a haircut. All I am saying is do you really need 500 friends? How about 20 that you actually know in the “real” world?
