Future of Television
April 17, 2011 No CommentsTelevision is one of the most influential inventions of the twentieth century. The image most conjured up of past Thanksgivings is less of strangers settling their differences over a feast and more about yelling at a football game on T.V. with relatives you probably dislike. This paradigm of culture and entertainment may not be long for the scrap heap. The rising cost of cable and satellite programming along with commercials becoming even more annoying and the emergence of Netflix as a valid form of media is causing me to doubt the resolve television. What do you think? Are T.V.’s days numbered? Are we headed for a Thanksgiving spent sitting around the next gen gaming console, watching reruns and looking at the game scores online?
