Facebook Marketing Tips for Graphic Designers and Businesses

February 17, 2012 1 Comment

Recently, I read a blog that introduced Facebook marketing tips for freelance graphic designers. The blog was so helpful that I wanted to share this useful information with the TriLeaf designers and our clients. Here are some good reasons why you need to be marketing yourself on Facebook.

There are over 500 million active Facebook users and 50 percent of these users log on daily. Think about how many impressions or opportunities you get to connect with people. The average user has 130 friends, so if you post something and a friend comments or shares it, more than 130 people are able to see that activity. Facebook marketing is already a popular tool for marketing and TriLeaf Designs likes to think they are ahead of the curve when it comes to social media literacy. As a designer I think it is more open and easy to build and update than a website. This can save you time, and time is money. Now, here are four tips for Facebook marketing.

Tip1. Target with creative ads.

Facebook’s advertising platform is targeted and less expensive than traditional advertising, like buying a space in local magazine. It targets by location, age, status or profile information and more. Facebook is not like a cold sale call, but more effectively utilized to connect people and build relationships.

Tip2. Create a fan page.

The fan page allows for the use of XFBML customization on tabs. This means you can design the tabs anyway you’d like. It can show how skilled and creative we can be to future clients and someone who is interest to work with us. Like Trileaf Design’s Facebook, uses creative designs to update our page with seasonal greetings or events. We have designed a welcome page and coupons to promote ourselves, and it has worked well for marketing tools.

Tip3. Fill your page with content.

Share updates about what you are working on. Future clients may be impressed and give some feedback. If you have a blog, use the networked blog tool to link the content to your Facebook fan page. TriLeaf regularly shares our blog and recent work.

Tip4. Integrate the fan page with other online assets.

Use the Facebook fan page as a hub to promote any social media or online asset. You can collect contacts for free consultation, then provide links to the landing page on your Facebook Facebook fan page. For designers, it wise to feature links to your portfolio, resume, rates and service menu. This can help you get new business and promote your design skills.

Another great way to integrate Facebook into your company promotions is to have the social media tool bar on your site. This makes it easier for your clients to shares your designs on their Facebook pages.
