Design Inspiration – Who Killed Bambi Kills the Ordinary
January 18, 2012 No Comments
Making its web debut in 2007, “Who Killed Bambi” is an all-around art-loving site. They feature contemporary art ranging from the tangible, such as visual, fashion and design, to the intangible, such as music and photography. The “they” I am referring to are the founders and operators of the site– Andrea Natale, Valentina Tanni, and Marica Zottino–a web designer, curator and graphic designer, respectively.
Despite initial appearances, it is not an appreciation for the macabre that fuels the collection on this site but instead a passion for the provocative. Violence, gore and what is considered taboo changes from generation to generation, and the founders simply want to see what makes our generation of artists tick. Sometimes there is beauty and interest in the dark and unknown, and this website gives contemporary artists who share this idea the chance to show off their talent.
I like this website because, similar to Pinterest, images and articles are set up in collage cubicles that create a veritable buffet for your eyes. With every scroll of the mouse wheel, you view new, unique and often beautiful artwork from around the globe–all without having to deal with those pesky small thumbnail, large text box setups that most other sites offer. I enjoy the ever-changing layout and the chance to see emerging artists expressing themselves in an unstifled environment.
You can view the website here, as well as very unique and quite informative bios on the founders Andrea, Valentina and Marica.
So please visit this site, give it a good look around, and if you find your thoughts provoked, let us know!
