CS4 Hyphenation Hero
July 13, 2011 No CommentsI don”t know about you guys but up until recently I found myself going to unimaginable lengths to fix one of the simplest formatting annoyances in graphic design. I’m talking about the automatic hyphenations that CS4 Adobe programs so “kindly” insert in your text boxes. Although this may not be the end of the world for most projects, when I found myself formatting and designing a 90-page campaign book, those little dashes became my biggest enemy. Luckily, around page 40, after spending hours manually fixing each hyphenated sentence, my prayers were answered and I stumbled upon something I should have seen in the first few months of using the adobe programs. So for all of you hyphenation haters, here is the answer: Select the text box (or multiple text boxes), pull up the paragraph palette and in the bottom left corner, you will see a small checked box that says hyphenation. Uncheck it… yep… that simple. If you are pounding your head on the desk from how simple that was, then we have something in common. Let us know if this helped!
