Film Post-Production Techniques in Print?
May 24, 2011 2 CommentsAdobe After Effects is widely used as a digital motion graphics and compositing application in film and video post production. The program rivals others in its 2d and 2.5d ( techniques used to create a 3d effect in 2d space ) animation work spaces and finishing effects (color correction, image adjustment). But what I have realized is that I love to through a piece of print for advertisement into After Effects to spice it up a bit before I call it good. Tell me if I’m wrong about doing this but using After Effect’s correction tools and other eye catching plug-ins can give me amazing outcomes in my work.
The photo for this blog is actually a piece I created in three programs all together. It was started in Maxon Cinema 4d, which if you are not familiar with is a 3d modeling and animation tool used widely in motion graphics and other 3d pieces. The base of the design was just a white background with a bunch of cube based objects intersecting each other with some soft boxes for lighting and textures to give it a nice look.
After the simplicity of the object was finished I rendered just an image of it as .psd and transferred the file to Adobe Photoshop. In Photoshop I just added the text, some slight color correction, adjustments and some lens dust. Finally It was transferred to After Effects where I did the final color correction, lens flares, and particles. Let me know if you have any comments on this technique or if you have even used it yourself!
